WCFA Testifies at Sunshine Committee Hearing
WCFA Testifies in Favor of Exemptions at Sunshine Committee Meeting
August 15, 2017 (Olympia, WA) - On Tuesday, WCFA testified before the Sunshine Committee (a citizen/legislative committee established by the legislature to review every tax preference and public disclosure exemption and then make recommendations on retaining or eliminating them). Yesterday’s meeting of the Sunshine Committee featured an exemption that protects voluntarily submitted animal disease testing information, AFO/CAFO related information, and financial statements on file with the WSDA for licensed Public Livestock Markets.
Washington Cattle Feeders Association Executive Director Jack Field testified in support of exemptions that were a result of past collaboration with WSDA. The Committee members asked numerous questions to which they were provided specific answers explaining the shared public benefits of each of the exemptions and how both feeders and the public share the benefits of clean water and healthy animals. The Committee will consider the testimony WCFA provided alongside the WSDA and will provide their recommendations on the exemptions at an upcoming Sunshine Committee meeting.
